Asia
Pacific Metrology Programme, APMP, was established in 1977.
It is a regional forum organized by national metrology
institutes (NMIs) of the Asia-Pacific region to promote
cooperation between NMIs. Now
the APMP is joined by 25 economies including 27 members, 3
associate members, 2 correspondence members.
Taiwan’s national standards laboratories of metrology:
the Center for Measurement Science of Industrial Technology
Research Institute (CMS/ITRI, basic physics quantity), Institute
of Nuclear Energy Research/Atomic Energy Council (INER/AEC,
ionizing radiation standards) and Chunghwa Telecom Co./Chunghwa
Telecom Laboratories participated in the APMP activities.
The
APMP holds its General Assembly every year which is joined by the
representatives of economies.
This organization has a Chairperson, an Executive
Committee, a Secretariat and 11 Technical Committees. Since there are very close relationships between measurement standards and economic trades, now the APMP is working closely with the APEC (The Asia Pacific Cooperation) to give efforts for the standards liberalization of national trades. The regulatory body for metrology in Taiwan, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the three national standards laboratories also actively participate in the related activities of the mutual recognition arrangement among the global laboratories for the trend of trade liberalization. |
